Terpenes are aromatic oils produced in the same trichomes that hold cannabinoids like THC and CBD. They're what makes one strain smell like citrus and another like pine or diesel.
Common terpenes and their vibe
Myrcene — earthy, mango; often associated with relaxing effects
Limonene — citrus; mood-lifting, energetic
Pinene — pine; clear-headed, focused
Linalool — lavender; calming
Caryophyllene — pepper; grounding
Reading the label
A Certificate of Analysis (COA) lists the top terpenes and their percentages. If a strain smells and tastes strong, the terpene numbers usually back it up.
