Applesauce has a friendly name. Its paperwork introduces two different totals and immediately makes things less casual. Total THC: 24.441%. Total cannabinoids: 28.049%. Did someone lose a number between the columns?
No mystery required. These headings describe different calculations. This 28g flower batch is a useful way to see why the largest number on a report is not automatically the THC number.
First, read the individual rows
| Report entry | Reported percentage |
|---|---|
| THCA | 25.134% |
| Delta-9 THC | 2.399% |
| CBGA | 0.517% |
| Total THC | 24.441% |
| Total cannabinoids | 28.049% |
These are selected entries from page two, not a replacement for the complete report. The document identifies the sample as Applesauce sativa-hybrid flower, with a 28.0000g unit weight. Its report-creation date is September 9, 2026.
The totals use different rules
ACT’s notes define total cannabinoids as the sum of cannabinoids. Its total-THC formula instead applies a 0.877 factor to THCA and includes measured delta-8, delta-9 and delta-10 THC. Delta-8 and total delta-10 are marked not detected in this sample.
That THCA adjustment is one reason total THC and total cannabinoids differ. The cannabinoid total also includes other quantified cannabinoids, such as CBGA. Simply subtracting total THC from total cannabinoids does not isolate a neat percentage of “everything except THC.” The calculations do not treat THCA the same way.

Keep the printed precision in perspective
Working with the rounded values displayed in the table may not reproduce every last decimal of the laboratory totals. Keep the reported totals as reported; do not silently replace them with a calculation from shortened inputs.
And keep the category attached to the number. Total cannabinoids is not a strength score, an absorbed dose or a promise about how someone will feel. It is a result with a defined calculation behind it. The heading is part of the answer.
